What is SSDI?

SSDI is what we call the insured portion of the social security disability system. That is set up for individuals who have worked five out of the last 10 years prior to becoming disabled. That means that you’ve worked and you’ve paid into the social security system with your wages. As a result of that, your benefits, your monthly benefit is based on the amount of money that you put into the system and varies from person to person based on their earnings. You will be entitled to a monthly benefits based on the earnings that you had and what you put into the system, and then you will also be entitled approximately 30 months after your disability adjudication date, you would be entitled to Medicare benefits.
