I-4 from Tampa Florida is Named the Most Dangerous Highway in the U.S.
According to the results from GPS company Teletrac Navman’s most recent study found here: https://www.teletracnavman.com/infographics/most-dangerous-roads-in-america, Interstate 4 stretching from Tampa to Daytona beach is the most dangerous highway in the country. The interstate showed an average of 1.250 fatalities per mile, with 165 traffic fatalities from 2011-2015. Interstate 4 connects drivers from Tampa to Orlando or Daytona Beach. According to the study January is the deadliest month to travel on Interstate 4.
Distracted driving is a big problem in Florida and it may be a big contributing factor in Interstate 4 being named the most dangerous highway in the U.S. If you are involved in a car accident on Interstate 4, take note if you are able to tell if the other driver was distracted by anything such as texting or using a cell phone at the time of the accident. It is important to notify your auto insurance company if you were involved in a car accident. However, please do not give them a recorded statement without your attorney present. Please just tell them that you will call them back to provide a statement later and at this time, you are ONLY reporting the accident.
Interstate 4 is an extremely dangerous highway so it is important to remember that the safest place to be is inside your car and only exit when it is safe to do so. If possible get off the highway at the nearest exit and then take pictures of the accident and exchange information with the driver.
